this is my finished animation

(note: i have had opload issues, so if this does not work then please just wait, as i will find the file and reupload it to youtube or a similar video site.)

evaluation

for this project we were tasked in creating an animation
the timing was good because it also coincided with a competition that was being held and so it was a good chance to throw in my hat, so to speak.

most of the group decided to go with the pre-chosen theme of old story (e.g. little red riding hood, three pigs)
although others in the class, including myself, decided to create our own stories.

My story is based on a game idea that i came up with around a year prior and it follows the beginning of the plot.
the plot is pretty standard to the RPG genre,
-kingdom is nice
-evil takes hold of monarch
-kingdom falters/darkens
-hero banished/leaves (when you see my animation, pun not intended)
so it does follow the idea for a game quite closely.

to make the animation i used flash, and over the course of using flash, i managed to pick up a range of different techniques in animation styles, all of which i attempted to implement into the animation itself, something i believe i managed to do somewhat effectively to my benefit, most of the time the different methods of animation seemed to be all in place, although when it came to the second half (last 2 scenes) of my animation, i think that's where it began to get worse.
the animation itself took roughly 6 or so weeks to finish, but even then, due to my own appalling time management, i could not get it to a level that i really wanted as it is still missing music and sound effects to a higher degree than it already has.

For my animation, i have received many comments from my peers, and they were rarely negative.
i found that to my surprise, people were jealous of my ability and art styles, so in the end i tried to hide my working out of courtesy so that people didn't feel demotivated/ put off or their works.
i feel that even though my responses were pretty much all positive, that didn't give me any room for improvement, as i had nowhere to build off due to no criticisms of my work, which did effect it in the long run.

At the end of the assignment  i found myself pressed up against the wall for timing, leaving me having to do about a third of my work in a single day, which caused my work to diminish in quality, wich was unfortunate, but necessary as i was able to meet the deadline.
adding to that note, at many times i found that i had some mistakes, but those were just minor things i could live without, but yes, i do regret having to rush the last 3rd of my work.

all in all, i believe i have learned quite a lot over the course of this assignment, and now i know how to operate a new piece of software and create my own animations
